I’ve heard of borax for a long time, but until a couple weeks ago, I had never used it. I knew it was used in the laundry room, but I never realized that you could use it for so many other things! I’ve seen it as part of a lot of homemade detergent and cleaning recipes. It’s great for cleaning appliances, garbage pails, sinks, tile and grout, and outdoor furniture! Here’s a recipe for an all-purpose cleaning spray that I’m going to try out:
- 1/2 Tb borax
- 1/4 c liquid castile soap
- 1/4 c white vinegar
- 2 L warm water
Combine all ingredients and pour into a spray bottle. Use like any other all-purpose spray cleaner.
I’ll also be sharing a recipe that a friend shared with me for an upholstery cleaner later this week, with before and after pics of our dining room chairs! So awesome.
Borax is so easy to use with your laundry, all you have to do is add 1/2 c to every load along with your regular detergent. It helps remove tough stains, softens hard water, deodorizes and freshens, and improves the cleaning power of your detergent. It can be used as an alternative to ColorSafe bleach. You can also use it as a pre-soak, by putting 1Tb of borax to every gallon of water in a sink or bucket, and soaking the clothes for at least 30 minutes before washing. You can even more laundry and cleaning tips on their website!
I have 3 coupons for a free box of 20 Mule Team Borax to give away here! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, telling me what you would use the borax for. Good luck!

I would use it as a laundry booster and pest control. i used to have a horrid roach problem and spent a ton of money on sprays, gels, and throwing out food and other items ruined. I poured out 2 boxes of borax along all my wall edges and within a week no more bugs, so I now keep a layer by all my doors to outside and by power strips.
Oh and it’s the only stuff that I have found that will remove red clay out of clothes!
I would use some for crystals and some for laundry debbie jackson

It’s funny because I just bought a box of this on my last grocery trip. I use it for cleaning the bathroom. It’s the BEST for cleaning soap scum. It’s also great to cut grease in the kitchen and it doesn’t bother my skin.

I think I used Borax once to make a craft. lol I would probably use it to do some cleaning. Having dogs, I’m sure something like this would be helpful to keeping the floors clean! lol
