One food item that we ALWAYS have in our fridge is yogurt. It’s great for a snack, or for part of breakfast or lunch. I even use it as part of a dessert now and then (spoon a bit of yogurt onto a vanilla wafer, then top with another vanilla wafer, then freeze. Easy and yummy!) Everybody loves it, and one of the jobs for the younger two during shopping trips is to pick out which flavors we are going to buy. With school starting in a few days, we’re stocking up for easy on the go breakfast ideas that the kids actually want to eat.
Tillamook recently sent me some of their yogurts to try out, which definitely made the family happy! We are practically neighbors too, which is fun (seriously, if you are ever near the Oregon coast, head on over to the town of Tillamook, and visit the Tillamook cheese factory!) In the interest of full disclosure, I have to share my funny (to me) story. When I received the samples of yogurt, we were on our way out the door, so they went straight from the cooler package, into the fridge. When I went to set the girls up for snack time, I thought this would be a perfect idea (and a good chance to take pictures!), so I went to the fridge to get the yogurts. Except that they were all gone. I guess the teens had decided to have their own snack time, and finished them off! So the pictures you see here are actually ones that I bought myself. They are the exact same thing though!
So it would be rather redundant to say that the kids love Tillamook yogurt, but they really do. Like “picking yogurt over a cookie” like it. (True story.) I like it because it tastes good, but also because it’s local. They’re also inexpensive (I buy them at Winco for less than 60 cents each), AND they come in a large variety (Marionberry is awesome!), plus my tried and true faves, like Strawberry, Vanilla, and Peach. They’re creamy, full of flavor, and so good!
And even better, there’s their commitment to making GOOD products:
- Artificial colors
- Artificial flavors
- High Fructose Corn Syrup
- Artificial growth hormones
If you are lucky enough to have Tillamook products in your store, you have to buy some! Their yogurts are available in low fat and light varieties (both are equally awesome and tasty!) If not, you can buy their cheese online. Make sure to follow them on Twitter and Facebook!
